Music: the piano guys

Dearest readers,
I believe that music is something that noone should live without it defines us, explains us and moves us like nothing else can. the peice of music in this clip is extraudenary not just because it was performed by only two people with a multitude of sounds but because of the feeling it sends down my spine when i just listen to it. Today I am going to talk about The Piano Guys because they use music to their advantage to create peices that move people from laughter to tears, not all of you may enjoy this but some of you i hope will apreciate the work that has gone into creating this peice and the beauty of its finished product. thankyou and enjoy.

even if you dont have the time to listen right now please feel free to come back another time to try it and also to read my other posts as well.

The spooky christmas/yule

Most darling readers of the dark and witchy inclinations,

This post is all about how to make you christmas or yule respectively dark and spooky (i know that christmas and yule are only a week away but still). first off the pinnacle of any winter celebration the tree. you can now get trees in all manner of shape and sizes and i would suggest either a black or dark red synthetic tree from a garden center or supermarket adorned with all the dark baubles and halloween tinsel you can get your hands on

yes indeed readers so deck out in purple fairy lights, dark tinsel and whatnot, put on tim burtons nightmare before christmas and snuggle up in those cold evenings with F.L.A.G playing in the background whilst reading miss Emilie Autumns book Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls or Jillian Venters Gothic Charm School or any spooky novella that takes your fancy. as for everything else well is it really that difficult readers? Get out your tea and make spooky holiday cards using your craft stuff you have in a box somewhere, cook up spooky delights and sweet treats and most importantly have fun and enjoy the holiday.
blessed be!

Black days

dear readers,
today is one of those black days, you know the ones i mean, where you feel as though the black clothes reflect your mood perfectly when your on your own and yet noone gets it, i may call myself the 'gothic travelling witch' however i use the term 'gothic' a lot more loosely than many nowadays i like being happy cheerful and some days, and those of you 'purist' goths are gonna be shocked at this one, i wear a pink top with angel wings studded in crystals on the front and back and its not because im a girly girl or because im a label of any kind its because i feel like it.
today however i was glad to be wearing black i got home from college sat down on my sofa put scrubs on the tv and started writing the next chapter in my book. and then i wondered what am i going to do in my life? i dont have many friends especially n ot in this area, i dont know what i want to be when i grow up and whenever im asked i say who knows? but i do know one thing my life is firmly in the realms of the alternative cause i dont care about the latest fashions or what makeup or hairstyle is in like the other people i have met in secondry, sixth form and college im just happy being me with my weird varied tastes in music from folk to westend to industrial and dark wave etc i dont care that people look at me odd when i walk down the street with my headphones on wearing a t-shirt that says i <3 monsters where the heart is designed to look real or if some idiot yells 'freak' or 'goth' or whatever across the street because i look different to the hundreds of other girls in the town or in essex because it makes me who i am i express my self like a peacock cause lets face it thats what we all are. i dont allways wear makeup but when i do it's not generally big swirly black eyeliner even though sometimes i do wear it but its most definately not 3 inch thick foundation either i prefer to show who i am in the now rather than try to fit in with a label that someone else has made up the rules for. i will shop in any store i like and try to find something new or the same that i like and looks good on me (which is generally a lot of black but hey i like it) i like mixing things together to try and make myself unique by trying to be exactly who i want to be. this doesnt mean i know what career i want or whether i want to do anything specific its just how i look and how i feel comfortable looking.
when i say the word 'goth' i dont just mean people in black or victorian wear i mean the whole range of alternative subculture because thats what i classify it as cause thats what i see when i walk down the streets of whitby where my grandparents live during wgw i have allways been fascinated with these amazin g people who where not afraid to show who they are and to be as extravegent as they pleased even when they where just going to the green grocers or the newsagents. the clothes fascinated me and the different ways people put things together was inspiring. i class whitby as my second home as it is one of the only 3 places that have stayed constant the other two where my nans house near southend and my grandma and grandads first home in hornchurch. but every year almost we would go to whitby and spend time there i would look around the market and look in the window of the 'scary shop mummy doesnt want me to go in' and wish i was allowed to go in and buy some pretty black dress or bag or skull headband with cobwebs on it but i was never allowed to i was allways ushered past by someone and i allways remember looking back and wanting to ask if we could have a look but i never did. then came the time when i was allowed to wander around on my own i must have been about 13 14 at the time and i allways remember going into those shops for the first time and being awed by all the beautiful clothes and accessories every time i go now i allways buy at least one thing and my wardrobe slowely grows. i mean sure atm its mostely jeans and t-shirts but maybe one day i will be able to walk down the street in a full skirt, corsett, demonia boots and a neon top every day if i wanted too but first i have to find out what i wanna do to make sure im able to do that and see the many wonderful places around the world that i wannna see who knows maybe i'll see you there and you'll recognise me as 'that girl who writes the blog' but even if you dont its fine because everyone has something they will grow up to be most of us just dont know what they want that to be yet and thats ok

The Snow Child; Book Reveiw

Dearest readers of the dark, magical and wandering inclination,
i recently finished reading (for the third time) the wonderous book 'The Snow Child' by Eowyn Ivey. it was a truely moving tale that was realistic to life yet touched upon the realms of fantasy in many ways for it is an interpretation of an old russian folk tale about an elderly couple who one day build a snow girl and it comes to life, the ending is sad as most traditional faery tales are and no mater how the story is told the girl allways melts. Eowyn really captures the essence of this story in her book in great detail to which i found it an enthralling read if a little difficult at first. i would certainly recomend it as a good book to read on those long flights when there is nothing to do as it will fill the time most nicely as you relive the tale as it is told before you and experience the many different emotions of all the different characters as they attempt to live on the edge of the northern wilderness. a good debut book as any would see.
blessed be readers and i shall see you again next time x

EHIC

dear readers,
Unfortunately this is a bit of a boring one but I am writing this as partly a travel blog (I know I havent done much travelling yet but DW next year I have lots of travelling plans so it will be a busy year ^^....hopefully :/ ) so I thought it would be handy to some of you darklings out there to have some information about this, especially those of you in Europe and the UK.
Now most people in the UK will understand what I mean when I say EHIC but for those of you that dont it means European Health Insurence Card which is essential for when travelling in and around europe now I have just renewed mine for my college trip taking place in about April May time (we are going to Malaga in Spain) and it cost about £18 ish (£17.something lol) but if you want to be sure you get good healthcare if goddess forbid anything happened then this is the card for you. well thats all for now but i will hopefully be back soon with more dark witchy travel news of some sort or other.
blessed be and see you next time!

Cupcake anyone?

Dearest darklings,
i have been in a spot of baking mania so i thought i would share with you a creation i did a few years back that is sure to make even the blackest of hearts go aww and want to gobble them all up. i present to you spider cupcakes.

adorable yes? well they are incredibaly easy to make. simply mix up a batch of your favourite cupcakes i would suggest chocolate or red velvet but you could use anything really and then decorate using melted chocolate or chocolate icing (up to you) and get the licquorice pinwheels unwind cut into little strips and place on top for eyes and legs so extremely simple and probably not the best thing for this time of year but what the hell i think they are good any time of the year so get baking enjoy and have a good week people. i may not be posting for a little bit due to coursework but i will try my best to at every opetunity.

blessed be and see you next time my dears.

The Dark Heroine:book reveiw

greetings dark readers,
today i am going to be reviewing a book that i recieved for my birthday in october and have just managed to finish it due to college work and jobs getting in the way. this is the book
now normally im a bit scepticall about new style vampire books especially after the twilight series in which vampires where made to 'sparkle' in the sun. now call me a downer i dont care but vampires should NOT sparkle in the sun so i was pleased to learn that our dark fiends in this particular 549 paged novel do burn in the sun, they dont die but they do get 3rd degree burns if they stay out too long once they have matured.
the main heroine of this tale is Violet Lee who just 'happened' to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, a vegetarian goody goody who got ok grades, never went out nearly as much as her friends would want her too and has a terminally ill sister with leukimia. I really connected with her sarcastic and often terrible wit but admired her bravery due to the situation she had been thrust into. it is well worth reading and the evil/loving/playboy prince of the vampires Kaspar who is sure to win you beautifuly dark minded girls hearts quickly even though he does start out as a colossal vampire jerk but hey at least he's doing what vampires should do and drinking human/hunters blood right?
well thats all i will say about the book for now im sure noone would want me to spoil the ending, but i give this book a 4 out of 5 stars and would recomend it to anyone who loves a sexy but gory vampire novel where there are REAL vampires that only sparkle when you through a tub of glitter over them. i will say though this book is NOT suitable for those who do not read mildely erotic tales, or are under the age of 15 this is a warning guys do not do it there are some pretty explicit descriptions in here ok. so happy reading and i hope to see you all when i post my next installment of The Travelling Gothic Witch
TaTa for now ^^

childish? timewasters? entertainment? inspiration?

Good evening my dark readers,
today im going to be talking about another topic that is close to my heart that is not directly linked to my main blog topics of the gothic and the witchy but does at times overlap, well i think it does anyway so thats all that matters to me ^.^.
Anime or Animated television especially the japanese catagory is a passion of mine that i cannot seem to shake, whether it was Pokemon and Cardcaptors as a child to Elfen Lied and Pandora Hearts today i have allways been fascinated with the japanese animation programs with their fascinating often repetative story lines and captivating images.
Over the years I have been criticized for watching them and yes at times they did clash with my grades in high school because i used most of my free time either watching or reading (in the form of manga) these interesting and fantastical tales.
Most recently i have been fascinated with the dark plotlines of Pandora Hearts, Kuroshitsuji, Elfen Lied and Vampire Knight as i slowely trudge through the online releases of the books after having watched their cartoon counterparts several months before and wanting to see if there was any more to the story. I patiently wait for each new chapter release and fill my time doing useful things such as homework, story writing and recreational art. But what has got me wondering is why people have such different opinions of people who watch and read these wonderful creations after they turn 10 years of age say, as you get older you are seen as weird if you continue to indulge in these things and are often veiwed as people who arent very cool, or as a little bit anti social. i would like to ask you my faithful readers around the world of what you think of people who do watch these programs and when if ever you think people should stop and go to watching other things (if you do comment please give examples of what you think people should be watching instead) i would very much like to hear your opinions and also if anyone has any topics they would like me to discuss please comment and i will strive to post something on them as soon as i am able.
Thankyou for reading and i hope you will continue to return and read my posts as i continue to touch on many different topics i come across as i the gothic travelling witch journies through life with all its mysteries so for now here are a few images from my current favourite anime Pandora Hearts for you (i do not own these they belong to their respective owners of copywrite)
blessed be and see you again soon i hope ^^

Love?

My dear readers around the world,
i watched an old documentary the other day on You Tube entitled 'goths make better lovers'. and whilst it is generally true that many people with similar dark inclinations such as us always seem to be in relationships that work, many of us realism that this is not always the case.

almost everyone has experienced heartache of some form or another and for those of us more in touch with our darker emotions it can be hard to keep it together especially when seeing your recent ex, or even an old one at times.
it is a heartbreaking, sad and lonely time in a persons life but eventually it will end it may not seem like it at the time but it will.
i am currently going through a 'seperation' myself ot was my choice for my own benefit but it is still hard and takes time to learn to adjust
untill next time

Liars

my dearest readers,
now goodness knows i believe all you darklings to be good mannered young 'snarklings' as The Lady of the Manners would like (check out her blog at gothic charm schools website) but there is one little thing we all have done at some point or another in our life and that is lie.
unfortunately i would love to be able to say i have never lied but we all know that is not true i dont believe anyone in the world can say they have never told a lie except perhaps newborn children. lying is my biggest peeve and i would very much like to poke them all with my very sharp sewing needles ...however i shant do that for it is ill mannered and well probably a bit worse than telling a little fib but i warn you those little fibs always get bigger and bigger and bigger so even when you've forgotten your homework or have skipped school don't lie about it it never ends well.
and that's it for my mini rant today i apologize readers it was something i needed to get off my chest so i hope you come by and read my blog again and blessed be.

planning for the future

Good evening dear Readers,
This evening i want to highlight for those of you at that sort of age the most daunting and exciting time in a young persons life, moving out of your parents and in my case into a new home with a partner (obvs my boyfriend here in my case). Many of us have most likely lived with one or both of our parents and or a parent like figure so a new step that's as big as this is often quite frightening because its stepping in to the unknown and new.

there are many of us who would probably love to decorate our homes with lots of ooky spooky (i am quoting Voltaire's album here for those who do not know of Voltaire please YT him for humorous dark minded music) decor and paint the walls dark morbid colors like blacks, reds and purples and for some this is entirely possible and i am in no way saying you shouldn't im saying that when living with others you also have to take their opinions and interests in mind too but i would love to have rooms similar to this (i know its a bathroom but you must admit it's pretty cool)

and also there is the point of your budget may be smaller than you want it to be so you must make sure that necessities are covered like sleeping arrangement's and kitchen supplies.
but even with these setbacks you can always use some DIY and creativity to make your new home slightly spooky and macabre if you so wish. good luck to those of you making this step and blessed be!

Halloween Fun!!

Happy October my decadently dark readers!
Its starting to become my favorite time of year now. And that's not only because my birthday is this month. autumn is my favorite time of year even if it is very cold this year ^^

unfortunately my area is not even close to looking this beautiful yet (woe is me lol). Buuuut that is not all i love about this time of year, its finally coming up to my 19th birthday and Samhain (Halloween for the none witchy of you readers) its absolutely my favorite holiday of the entire year.
with pumpkins, bats, spiders, witches and coffin shaped goodies appearing on the shelves i would normally end up going to every pound-land  charity shop, supermarket and shopping center just to stock up on all these delectably adorable goodies. unfortunately however i have to save for a lot of holiday type things and house renting things for next year so i cant *cries*. Ah well at least i have an amazing partner to occupy my time with so i wont have to think about all those goodies. i hope you all enjoy decorating your rooms and houses up to your hearts content in my place this year ^^.
Another event i look forward to at this time of year (again something i am unable to attend due to college and work) is the WGW (Whitby Gothic Weekend) for all those of you going have enormous fun and say hi to the whitby wyrm for me if you spot it.
not many people know this but my favorite part of Halloween is the abundant supply of pumpkins to make lovely treats out of such as soups or savory pumpkin candies. and also who could forget the fabulously spooky jack'o'lanterns in many different designs i am already planning how mine will look this year what about you?
and last but not least for all of my witchy readers how are you planning to spend Samhain? do you have any ironic dress up looks for Halloween such as black cat plushies or pointy black hats and shoes?
i would love to hear everyone's Halloween habits so until next time my decadent friends blessed be!

Summers End

My decadently dark readers,
Summer is officially over for many of us and the chill of autumn has already appeared in the UK, and most of the kids are back in school, college or have just started to leave for university. I myself have recently started college again, and the dreaded days of deadlines have begun.
Many children of the gothic persuasion will most likely hate their school uniforms however if you are one of these people and reading this i will say don't get into unneeded trouble and wear it however find out if you can wear things like pin badges on your blazers or jumpers so you can make it  more personalized to you.
for those of you lucky enough to be able to wear what you like to school remember to allways be yourself and those that cant accept who you are are not very good friends.
blessed be!

North Yorkshire-Whitby

Greetings my beautifully dark readers,
As you all know i love to travel hence my title as travelling gothic witch :)
this year i travelled not too far from my home town (around a 5 hour drive away) to the historic and somewhat spooky north Yorkshire seaside town of Whitby. many of you may recognise it as one of the settings for Bram Stokers infamous Dracula. during the week i played crazy golf on top of the cliff by the whale bones, walked up the 199 steps to the abbey ruins, spent a lot of time with my grandparents in their 3 story town house and most importantly brought a whole new outfit from a shop called pandemonium. unfortunately i have no pictures as of yet to show you all but fret not for i will be visiting again next summer with my wonderful boyfriend and i shall show you in full the wonders of this historic seaside fishing village
blessed be!

Wimbledon anyone?

my gloriously dark minded readers and witches,
this summer has already been filled with more sport than most people can handle but for all of you sporty type goths and witches i would seriously recomend that you try to get tickets to next years Wimbledon. for my english readers i know that you are probably feeling a bit let down that mr andy murray did not win the title but never fret for their is allways next year.
here are some of the photos i took of the two matches i saw on court on the first with sharapova and the second with English lad james ward enjoy.

and last but not least i wish to thankyou for reading and until next time have a pleasently dark and spooky time

posh afternoon teatimings

my precious darklings and witches alike,
i apologize for my lengthy absence it was by no means intentional.
quite recently i attended afternoon tea as a school trip with the college that i currently attend and it was in two words, deviously divine.
the beautiful entrance to the Connaught hotel just oozes elegance and refinement from it's pores (if it had any)

who doesn't love a bit of a sugar lump form suck on (although is meant only for the tea i suppose darklings)

even the table setting is posh and refined
 3 tiers of delectible indulgence

sandwitches anyone? (pun intended dear friends)

these delectable treats all have a fruity theme can you guess what is what?

chocolate treats with a strawberry and razzelberry jelly on the side (yes the lillypad is actually green chocolate fondant)

jam and cream anyone?

cinnamon scone and apple and elder flower jam with just a dollop of clotted cream

maple profiterolls with blackcurrent jam

chocolate base with a vanilla cream filling and green chocolate decoration

various types of pound cake made with fresh fruit

orchids in bloom (aren't they gorgeous even those of us with the darker mindset can see that)

And lastly a picture of me your gracious informant in the ins and outs of travelling, exploring and experiencing life as a Gothic and a witch, the Connaught hotel graciously accepts all formal dress codes (jeans are still acceptable though) and so long as you don't wear trainers they have no problem at all with us darklings attending and enjoying their high class confectioneries.

i will try to blog you more tidbits of darker life and witchin possibility's and i apologize again for my tardiness in informing you all.
good evening my dear dark minded fellows i hope you enjoy this wonderful night and to my witchy readers blessed be!

nature

greetings dark readers,
today i am going to be talking more to those of you with the witchy inclinations. i am going out to a park today with my boyfriend nothing new there i'm sure many of you do it already but i'm also going to be going for spiritual reasons as well. everytime you are outside even if it is just in your own garden as long as you are directly under the sky you are with true nature and this can give you energy and spiritual peace my friend pagyptian (i think thats how you spell it) did a video on YT recently about the importance of nature. my really close friend amy is exploring the path of buddhism and is learning that the spiritual entities and enlightenment are key to her being at peice. both aspects of which are all around us within nature no matter how small that peice of nature seems to be

Good news!

Good afternoon my dark friends and readers,

Gothic curls?

Greetings my decadent dark readers,
Today i am going to be discussing hair styles. Namely curly hair specifically. now i am touching on this particular subject due to my research on a new style for my hair that reflects my interests and i found it increasingly hard to find something that i liked based on what was around. then i thought hang on do i really need to have my hair done like anyone else's when it should be unique to me? my road was clear find a style that suited me personally and did not copy off anyone else.
Now many of you out there may style your hair using curling tongs, straightening irons, or chemicals yet this is like giving your hair a permanent and early death and it promotes bad hair days and breakages often even hair loss and thinning. now if you don't care about this and think it is the only way to keep your hair looking the way you want it too that's fine i'm not here to stop you being you. i am planning on dying my hair at least 3 different colors in the not too distant future but i will be having it done in a salon that i will research to see that they use a peroxide free dye as i am currently growing my hair out a lot longer.
I have also resolved to stop using hair bands with metal connectors and the crocodile clips due to them breaking and damaging the hair during and after use.
This is all to create long hair that i can style using grips and hair sticks and such so that my hair is healthy, amazing and with that Gothic essence i so crave.
Thanks for reading and i would love to hear how you style your hair in a way that reflects your inner self no matter what that might be.
brightest blessings to you all.
